Following the successful concert of the MIXT CHOIR (Conducted by: Stavros Solomos, piano by Loucy Christodoulou) and the PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA (Conducted by: Giorgos Bourdopoulos) of the "POLYPHONIC CHOIR OF PATRAS" at the Cultural and Conference center of the University of Patras last Saturday, as part of the Panhellenic Endocrinology Conference, new activities are being added to the organization's artistic program.

Specifically, this Saturday, the Women's Vocal Ensemble "EMMELEIA" of the "POLYPHONIC" will depart for Florina to participate in the 2nd Choral Festival of Florina, organized by the local Educational Association "Aristotelis" at the "Aristotelis" Theater.

Sixteen choirs from all over Greece will participate, while "EMMELEIA" will perform the following pieces:

  • "MARINA" – Lyrics: Odysseas Elytis, Music: Mikis Theodorakis

  • "DYO GLYKA MATAKIA" – Lyrics: Ioannis Polemis, Dionyssis Lavrangas, Arrangement: Albena Penkova

  • "DE SE FOVAMAI" – Lyrics: Kyriakos Doumos, Giorgos Papadopoulos

  • "VARKA GIALO" – Lyrics & Music: Vassilis Tsitsanis, Arrangement: Vassilis Tenidis

The choir will be conducted by Albena Penkova, with Loucy Christodoulou on piano, both instructors at the "POLYPHONIC" MUSIC SCHOOL. The delegation will be accompanied by the Artistic Director of the organization, Stavros Solomos, and the 1st Vice President of the Board, Giorgos Stamopoulos.

Meanwhile, on Saturday evening at 8 PM, the "POLYPHONIC" music school  (Conducted by: Giorgos Bourdopoulos – Administrative Director: Effi Kavvadia) will host the 4th Summer Concert at  "Tolis Nomikos" concert hall.. The event will feature students from the:

  • Violin School (instructors: Maria Goutou & Zoe Zoitopoulou)

  • Mandolin School (instructors: Sotiris Glavas & Teta Zerva)

  • Guitar School (instructor: Nikos Skeparnias)

Admission is free to the public.

Finally, on Sunday evening at 7 PM, at the center of creative activities "PROTASI", the Theater Workshop of the "POLYPHONIC" (for minors & adults), in collaboration with "PROTASI", will present the comic children's play: "OI MYTES TO SKASAN" (Noses went rogue). The script is written by fairy tale author Anna Dendrinou, with adaptation and direction by educator-director Athina Kallimani-Georgitsopoulou.

Proceeds will support the causes of "PROTASI."
