POLYPHONIKI Sets the Rhythm for Festivals and Events
Tuesday 16 Sep 2025

The "POLYPHONIKI" (Municipal Music Organization of Heraklion) will have a series of participations in events organized by various bodies in our city.

Specifically, tomorrow, Wednesday, as part of the 8th International Poetry Festival, which is being held for one week in our city, a poets' meeting titled "Lighthouses of Greek Poetry", dedicated to Manolis Anagnostakis, has been scheduled. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in the atrium of the "Kanistra" hall, in the central building of the OLPA Administration (new port). Despina Krimpa, a professor at the "POLYPHONIKI" Conservatory, will accompany the Festival's poetic explorations on her guitar.

Within the framework of the same Festival, on Friday, September 19, under the title "Guardians of the Horizon", the Festival events will continue at the Roman Stadium (Hephaestus Street) at 8 p.m., with the participation of the "POLYPHONIKI" "MUZICANTO" ORCHESTRAL ENSEMBLE (Conductor: Georgios Papageorgiou). This will be combined with the awarding of the "Kotinos tis Eliaς" (Olive Wreath) to poets whose work has been characterized as a reward for the human spirit.

Concurrently, the well-known ART IN PROGRESS Festival in our city is organizing various actions by artistic bodies within the city's social fabric. In this context, the Organization's PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA (Conductor: Georgios Bourdopoulos) will present a musical event on the Maizonos Pedestrian Street (next to the Metropolitan Church) on Saturday, September 20, at 11 a.m., dedicated to the "art walk 10" celebrated this year.

Finally, on the same day in the afternoon at 6:30 p.m., at the Open Air Theatre Krinis (Krinis Open Theatre), the "POLYPHONIKI" THEATRE WORKSHOP (Director: Athina Kallimani Georgitsopoulou) will present a free-admission theatrical performance for children, featuring the work of our fellow citizen and fairy tale writer, Anna Dendrinou: "The Noses pack up and... travel". This will be followed by an interactive game based on the well-traveled "Noses," as well as on a new performance by the THEATRE WORKSHOP which is in preparation and will be its next production. The event is organized by the Association for the Promotion of the Cultural Heritage of Krinis "O Agios Athanasios", in collaboration with the Deputy Mayorship of Culture, with the aim of promoting a healthy way of life through Culture.
