The Youth Choir of the “Polyphoniki” Organization returned from Nafplio with a Silver Medal, under the direction of Lusy Christodoulou and with Marina Mylona at the piano (both professors of the “Polyphoniki” Conservatory). The choir participated in the competition section of the 11th International Choral Festival “Marilena – Nafplio ARTIVA” (Artistic Director: Theodosis Antoniadis), which was successfully organized at the Vouleftiko Hall in the city of Nafplio.
The Youth Choir of “Polyphoniki” competed in the Chamber Choirs category, which included ensembles of exceptionally high standard from Greece and Cyprus. The choir performed the following works:
“Amor, Amor” — Lyrics & Music: Nikos Kypourgos
“In Meinem Garten” — Music: Robert Schumann
“Ave Verum Corpus” — Music: Francis Poulenc
“The Impossible Dream” — Lyrics: Joe Darion, Music: Mitch Leigh, Arrangement: Jonathan Wikeley
The jury of the competition consisted of the distinguished conductors Kostis Konstantaras, Nikos Vasiliou, and Stavros Beris.
At the same festival, in the Free Program category, the Children’s Choir of the Organization also participated, under the direction of Aretousa Nikolopoulou and with Marina Mylona at the piano (professors of the “Polyphoniki” Conservatory). The choir performed the following works:
“Once Upon a December” — Lyrics: Lynn Ahrens, Music: Stephen Flaherty
“Can You Hear Me?” — Lyrics & Music: Bob Chilcott
“How Far I’ll Go” — Lyrics & Music: Lin-Manuel Miranda, Arrangement: Ed Lojeski
“Cantamos” — Lyrics & Music: James DesJardins
