On Saturday, January 24, at 7:30 PM, at the Pammikrasian Society of Patras Theater (Fokaias 26), the theatrical performance “Our Little Smyrna” will take place, presented by the “Polyphoniki” Theater Workshop (Director: Athina Kallimani-Georgitsopoulou).
The performance is co-organized by the Pammikrasian Society, with the support of the Board of Directors of DI.PE.THE. Patras and the costume supervisor, Alexandra Stratopoulou (costume design and actor preparation), as well as with the assistance of Tasos Papakos in setting up the stage.
The play is staged on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the city’s refugee neighborhoods, with respect for the lost homelands, and admission is free to the public. The event will conclude with a brief presentation on “The Refugees of 1922 in Patras” by historian Giota Kaika-Mantanika, who will discuss the settlement of the refugees, the creation of urban and rural neighborhoods, and how the state treated them.
